I accompanied my roommate on a shopping trip to the Multiplaza mall again. This time, I could really enjoy the mall because I didn't have the fears of getting mugged or lost. My roommate really needed business clothes as prior to our internship she'd been in Panama completing a study away program here in Panama.
For a break we went to the cafeteria for a nice Mango smoothie made of pure mangoes and oranges! It was so great and very refreshing that we managed to stay in the mall for more than 4 hours and walked around and very successfully purchased everything my roommate needed for her internship!
These people are so much more laid back that they sort of half-assedly hand you a flier and only half expect you to actually take it. The scary thing is sometimes is when people are dressed as clowns because the clowns here are genuinely scary simply because their makeup is sweating off so they look more like horror movie clowns than Ronald McDonald.
It was nice to finally see a bit of the Panamanian indigenous culture. Beyond seeing so many indigenous people roam the streets of Casco Viejo or in the mall, I hadn't really seen many indigenous (though it was still more than I see in Montreal).
Overall our roomies day was great, relaxing and full of shopping and yummy ceviche!
