From the overnight bus, we arrived in Osaka just at the crack of dawn when things started to open at 6:30am. Even in the smaller city centre of Osaka, we were able to use our JR Tokyo metro cards in Osaka as well (even though the cities are more than 4 hours apart!). From the terminal we made our way to the hostel we would be staying in: J-Hoppers Hostel Osaka.
After napping a bit, we headed to a small local restaurant in Osaka (Fukushima Station) that served Osaka Specials: Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki! The restaurant was a lot more authentic than the types of food sold in tourist areas. Unfortunately, we were in Osaka right during a typhoon, so we were lucky to even find an open restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and very affordable, with 6 Takoyaki costing 220 yen :D

After our lunch near the hostel we headed to Namba street because a lot of Osaka's main attractions were closed from the typhoon. The area is famous for its shopping and funny storefronts like the giant crab and the running man! As a snack we went to a 'tea shop' which served a roasted tea shaved ice and a green tea float! Both were absolutely incredible and truly decadent :D I'm totally loving the food here!!
After we spent our afternoon exploring around Namba, we stumbled upon a small fishmarket which sold their sashimi for 50% off because it was in the afternoon time. We bought a plate for 700 yen and it was amazing and super fresh. After our nice and fresh dinner, we went out with people from our Hostel to a nearby Isakaya for 300 yen beers and yakitori sticks! We met a cool couple from Australia as well as some backpackers from France. Hostel culture is so cool in that aspect because you can meet a lot of interesting people from all over the world!
