Since returning from Panama I returned both to Montreal and Vancouver for a short while, before yet again taking off on my next adventure: ASIA. To start off my trip I visited Japan. My cravings and love of Japanese culture, food, architecture and shopping were big factors for my desire to return to Japan (for my second trip). The icing on the cake was being able to see my long distance boyfriend, good friends from highschool and a family friend (all of whom made my time in Japan absolutely wonderful!).
I flew to Japan using JAL (Japan Airlines) and I had an amazing time. It was reminiscent of the older flights where they give you a nice meal and good drinks. I even had the chance to get some in-flight sake before my trip even began!
To get from Narita International Airport to the Tokyo City Centre I highly recommend taking the JR Narita Express train closest to your desired destination. I ended up going to Yokohama (as I was staying in the guest room of a family friend). There is a flat rate of 1500 Yen (close to 15 dollars) if you show an international passport for a one-way ticket.

First meal in Japan was a Kaisen Don (Rice bowl with Sashimi on top) with a side of Soba (cold noodles). We ate at one of the shops by Yokohama station. The amazing thing about Japan is that there are so many places to eat, and even the cheaper restaurants provide you plenty of food that is delicious and well prepared! The people are very kind and well mannered, so my overall first impressions of Japan are very good! |
